Tentmaker Publications to Close
The closure has been announced of the book printer and publisher, Tentmaker Publications. Founded in the late 1980s when Phil and Joy Roberts were church planting in the Republic of Ireland, it became a pioneer in the field of desktop publishing. From the smallest of beginnings it eventually saw well over 200 hardback titles published including such titles as The Works of Thomas Boston, a twelve volume set comprising 7,200 pages. Whilst some paperbacks have been published the vast majority of the output has been bound in traditional library cloth.
When it began, print-on-demand was in its infancy and Tentmakers were able to offer small economic print runs of 100 or even 50. Numerous books that otherwise would have been known only to the collector, have been rescued from obscurity. The wide range of titles has included rare Puritan commentaries, devotional classics, as well as biographies and histories of Methodism in its various forms. The decision to close became inevitable after Phil was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
