Norway Murder Victims Stabbed Rather than Killed with Arrows
The five victims killed in Kongsberg, Norway by a recent convert to Islam, were not killed with a bow and arrows as initially reported. It seems the assailant discarded the bow and arrows before stabbing at least eight people, five of which were fatal.
According to Norwegian news reports, “When the accused arrived at Hyttegata, he no longer had a bow and arrow. In Hyttegata, five people are killed with stabbing weapons, Some were killed inside their own homes, some outside in the public space.”
Norwegian police report that the assailant, named as Espen Andersen Braathen, has admitted to the killings. He has been admitted into a health institution to undergo a “full judicial observation”.
Media reports say that Braathen had been identified as having possibly been radicalised. Police say that “illness appears to be the most probably hypothesis in terms of motive for the action.”
