Good Turnout for West Memorial Trust Lecture

Good Turnout for West Memorial Trust Lecture

Approximately one hundred people turned out on a cold November night for the 2021 West Memorial Trust Lecture in Belfast.  The speaker was the Revd Dr John W Yates III, Rector of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Yates spoke on the sufficiency of Scripture; “How Do We Hear God and How Do We Know It is God Speaking?”

Yates, son of the former Rector of The Falls Church in Virginia, the Revd John W Yates II, earned a PhD from Cambridge University before becoming a research assistant for John Stott between 1996-1999.  He was a prominent speaker at the GAFCON Conference in Nairobi in 2013.

The West Memorial Trust Lecture series is named after the late Revd Clive West.  For decades he was a mentor to younger clergy and prominent conservative evangelical churchman.  Previous speakers have been: Ashley Null, Mark Thompson, Philip Jensen, Vaughan Roberts, and Michael Nazir-Ali.
