Church Society Announces New Awards to Support Scholars in Training

Church Society has announced three new financial awards to support scholars in training.

Named after luminaries from earlier years, the Dean Wace Scholarship, the Bishop Ryle Bursary, and the Mary Vere Grant have specific emphases.

The Dean Wace Scholarship assists those needing funding for graduate and post-graduate training (MPhil, ThM, MTh, DMin, PhD, DPhil) in theological and complementary disciplines of church history and biblical counselling, etc.

The Bishop Ryle Bursary aids clergy needing funding for specified writing works and even sabbatical training proposals.  It will also assist ordinands who desire to have an additional year of training before graduate level work.

The Mary Vere Grant awards aid to women who are preparing for non-ordained ministry within the Church of England.

Application procedures for the grants can be found on the Church Society (www.churchsociety.org) website.  Completed applications for all three awards are due on 1 May.

Those applying should normally be members of Church Society.  Applicants will have to indicate if they are in “general” agreement (with exceptions noted) with the Church Society doctrinal statement.”
