We Made a Mistake: Details of the Peter Toon Memorial Lecture 2022

We Made a Mistake

Details of Peter Toon Memorial Lecture Announced

In our last edition of the English Churchman, we made a mistake.  We published the information regarding the 2022 Peter Toon Memorial Lecture but failed to include the date.  We regret this oversight.

This year’s lecture will be on 11 May starting at 15:30.

The Revd Dr Ian Paul will speak on the topic, “Where is the World Heading?”

St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford will be the venue for this year’s event and Evensong will follow the lecture at 17:30.  The Revd Dr George Westhaver will deliver the sermon.

The late Revd Dr Peter Toon was active on both sides of the Atlantic in making the case for the English Reformation and the Anglican expression of the Christian faith.  He was Chairman of the Prayer Book Society, UK as well as in the United States.

Toon taught at a number of theological training institutions and authored a biography on the late Bishop JC Ryle.  In the years leading up to his death in 2009, Toon was called on to advise theological conservatives in the USA in the jurisdictional realignment in the wake of the consecration of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire.  He authored over twenty-five books.
