Banner of Truth Conference 2022

Banner of Truth Conference 2022

By Peter Sanlon

Banner of Truth’s Ministers’ Conference gathered afresh after a two year hiatus. Over 200 ministers from not only the UK but Europe, Africa, Canada and Australia gathered in Staffordshire to enjoy four days of fellowship and teaching.

The whole conference was shaped by Banner’s notable concern for experiential Calvinist piety and reformed doctrine. The conference theme was ‘Communion with God’. An opening sermon from David Campbell drew us to look back on God’s eternal plans from the perspective of glorification in Rom. 8. Evening addresses from Conrad Mbewe blended doctrine and exegesis to address believers’ privileges and hypocrites’ false expectations. Robert Strivens helped us see how the regulative principle and how we worship in general is tied to our view of God. All the other speakers ministered in a way that was aimed at stirring up ministers’ spiritual relationships with God.

As always the Banner bookshop offered hundreds of titles at vastly reduced prices, and trustees and authors were available to give recommendations. It is terrific to be able to benefit from a longstanding ministry such a Banner which stands out as a Christian publisher that is more than a publisher — putting on conferences and sharing resources that help ministers be nourished by the best of reformed doctrine and ministerial practice.
