Welby-wokery and Weddings
Dear Editor,
Your recent correspondent suggested that the latest ‘Welby-wokery’ emanating from General Synod has eliminated the ordination of women, as the Church of England does not officially know what a woman is. More than that, it has also de facto legalised gay weddings in church buildings. Imagine an emboldened vicar holding a ‘marriage’ service between two men. The cleric is summoned by the bishop shortly afterwards to explain this action. The vicar’s defence? “When the Church has no definition of a woman, how can you prove that one of the parties married was not a woman?”
Yours etc,
J Clayton
