More on St Hugh’s Conversations
Dear Editor,
The recent published response from the Church of England Evangelical Council is breathtaking in its condescension. Instead of answering specific questions about the secret St Hugh’s Conversations, they have opted for further secrecy, retreating behind a bland corporate statement. What have they got to hide? Given the level of co-operation amongst the St Hugh’s participants in drafting their published documents and responses, it is vital that CEEC is open to the evangelicals in the Church of England. How representative were the evangelical representatives at St Hugh’s? Has some kind of deal been done, ahead of General Synod?
So far, the message from CEEC comes across as “Go away, you little people. Nothing to see here.” It does not bode well.
