Melville-Knox Christian School Aberdeen was recently formed after a number of encouraging developments amongst leaders and members of Reformed and confessional churches in the city.
A series of preliminary discussions led to the establishment of Melville-Knox Christian School Aberdeen, in partnership with Melville-Knox Christian Schools. This included incorporating a very clear and Biblically robust constitution and the establishment of a school board of directors in the city. As the plans progressed, the building of Grace Reformed Church Aberdeen became an outstanding prospect as a host location for the school, after being agreed by the leadership of that fellowship. In addition to this, an application with Education Scotland was made and the relevant paperwork compiled and sent.
Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020, the exciting developments were halted, but only temporarily. In November 2020, a previously cancelled parent information event took place online and this provided interested parents the opportunity to hear about the school and its progress. As a result, a core group of interested parents are now part of a mailing list with many already expressing a great interest in sending their children to the school. This has been an important step.

We are therefore in a position to be advertising for a schoolteacher. We have had some interested parties but continue to pray and circulate the job advertisement, as this is undoubtedly another big step towards the formation of this school. The school board is projecting a possible launch date of August 2021 but this will depend on a number of factors, including the government COVID restrictions and the direction these move in.
